Wedding Photography Blog Post at Craig y Nos Castle by Katy Tainton Photography
The reason I became a wedding photographer is because I was so blown away by the photos I received back from my own wedding photographer when I got married to my love back in 2012. We tied the knot at the stunning Craig y Nos Castle, nestled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons.
Imagine the joy I felt when Harriet and Tom booked me for their wedding at, you guessed it, Craig y Nos Castle!! I felt like the tables had turned and it was definitely a high point for me as a wedding photographer. This gorgeous venue held a lot of memories for me, and I wanted them to have the same beautiful experience I had.
It was an autumn wedding and the country park was looking incredible! Red trees are a particular favourite of mine to shoot. The bridesmaid dresses.... swoon!! The stunning autumnal reception details..... gorge!!
One of the highlights for me was being taken by the venue staff up to the roof of the castle to shoot the large group shot of all the guests. Man that is... high. But the best (scariest) part was going up the stairs to the top. The castle has had many purposes in its past lives before being the wedding venue it is today. It was once the home of the celebrated opera singer, Adelina Patti. After that it became a hospital. It is today considered one of the most haunted castles in the UK! The rooms behind the scenes as you leave behind the wedding to venture up the stairs to the roof are the stuff of nightmares. I won't give too much detail here because let's face it this is a wedding blog so if you want to see for yourself, book a ghost hunt tour at the castle!
