Being a South Wales Wedding Photographer means I get to capture so many beautiful weddings, and Megan and Nathan’s day in September at the Coed y Mwstwr Hotel in Bridgend was no exception. From the emotional moments to the stylish decor, their day was truly one to remember. Let me take you through their magical day.
The Bride's Morning: Glamour and Emotions
The day started with me photographing Megan getting ready in her suite at Coed y Mwstwr Hotel with her bridesmaids and mum. This time is always special, and I made sure to capture all the little details—the beautiful dress, bright pastel flowers by the amazing Jenna at Bloom Street Florals, and the jewellery and perfume that Nathan had gifted her.
Megan’s glam team included the talented Kirsty Rowlands for makeup and The Bridal Stylists for her gorgeous hair. With a glass of fizz in hand, Megan shared some fun moments with her bridesmaids before it was time to get into her dress. I snapped some breathtaking portraits of her standing by the window, soaking in the excitement of the day ahead. One of the most touching moments was the first look with Megan’s dad at the bottom of the stairs—it was such a heartfelt, emotional scene.
A Beautiful Church Ceremony
Megan and Nathan’s ceremony took place at a local church, which was filled with family and friends. It was a classic and romantic setting for them to exchange vows. Afterward, guests showered the couple with confetti as they made their way out, creating some fun and joyful moments to capture.
Fun and Family Back at Coed y Mwstwr
Once we arrived back at the stunning Coed y Mwstwr Hotel, it was time for some group photos with the family and bridal party. The hotel’s grounds provided a perfect backdrop for these shots, and everyone was having a great time. After the formal photos, the bridal party loosened up, and we got some fun, candid moments of them celebrating together.
Romantic Couple Portraits
The grounds at Coed y Mwstwr are stunning, and I took Megan and Nathan for a walk around the gardens to capture some romantic couple portraits. The soft light and the hotel’s picturesque setting gave us the perfect opportunity for stunning, intimate shots of just the two of them.
A Reception Full of Colour and Fun
The reception room was beautifully decorated by One Splendid Day and Bloom Street Florals. The space was full of colour, with blue tablecloths and pastel flowers, plus fun touches like lemons included in the displays. The elegant cake, crafted by The Cake Cwtch, was a real standout piece, incorporating lemons into its design.
The speeches followed, with Nathan, the father of the bride, the best man and the bridesmaids all sharing stories and laughs. These moments had everyone smiling, and I was able to capture both the heartfelt emotions and the laughter in the room. Afterward, guests took part in a fun game where they matched two halves of a heart-shaped photo of the couple. It was a great icebreaker and got everyone mingling.
Party Time with a Saxophone Surprise
As the evening went on, we took a few more portraits of the couple before the first dance. But the party really kicked off when surprise saxophonist Daniel Costin joined the celebration. He played along to popular dance tracks, getting right into the middle of the guests on the dance floor. The energy was incredible, and everyone loved it!
